New Online Discussions funded by Pennsylvania Department of Aging
Research shows that when hard decisions need to be made, patients and their loved ones have an easier time if they have discussed their wishes and values ahead of time. The new Take Charge of Your Life website is Funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging and produced by the Take Charge Partnership. The website features 12 online one-minute videos to encourage end-of-life planning and discussions and free discussion and user guides.

Seniors Information & Referral Service (SIRS) is a free service designed to provide seniors and their
caregivers with information related to care, finances, and psychosocial or legal needs. There are many

Senior Information Station at Monroeville Mall
Eastern Area Adult Services maintains a freestanding kiosk at the Monroeville Mall. The kiosk is staffed
with senior professional information specialists. Call 412-247-1446 for more information.
Senior Services at Jefferson Regional Medical Center
The center coordinates month 55 Alive Drive education classes with AARP. Classes are held on various days
and times including some Saturdays. Participants age 55+ may be eligible for car insurance discounts from
AARP upon completion of the course. Call 412-469-7099 for more information.
St. Margaret Foundation Programs and Services for Seniors
815 Freeport Road, Pittsburgh
St. Margaret Foundation offers services to seniors and caregivers living in neighborhoods surrounding St.

Veteran Affairs Assisted Living Program
Spouses of veterans may also be eligible for Aid and Attendance if the veteran is rated 30% or more
disabled. Eligible individuals include the veteran or spouse who meets one or more of the following factors:
blind or nearly blind, is a patient in nursing home due to mental or physical incapacity, has a prostheses
that needs frequent adjustment, is incapable of feeding self due to the loss of upper extremity coordination
or strength, is incontinent, and/or is mentally or physically unable to protect self from hazards. Call the
Department of Veteran's Affairs, your local American Legion or Amber Glenn at Forest Hills at 412-244-9901
