Centers of Information for Prescription Drugs
The Medicare Cost Containment Act of 2004 offers Medicare Beneficiaries a number of solutions to the problem of getting prescriptions at a fair and reasonable price without the need to shop around. Medicare beneficiaries can sign up for any one of a number of Medicare approved Discount Card Programs. One local chain, Osco / Albertson's, has set up their pharmacies to become "centers of information" for these programs. Their pharmacies accept all the programs and their pharmacists have detailed information on how each of the programs work.

Crisis Response Program Volunteers Needed

The Crisis Response Program consists of dedicated, professionally trained volunteers who provide on-scene crisis intervention services to the citizens of Surprise and the surrounding communities. Crisis Response units may be dispatched by Phoenix alarm to respond and work in partnership with all Northwest Valley fire departments and police agencies. They also work with social service agencies by providing high-quality crisis intervention, support and referral services to the community. Volunteers have to be at least 18 years of age and complete an application, interview, background check and training. Volunteers work a minimum of 16 hours per month and attend one quarterly meeting.
