Alzheimer's Residential Homes offering Assisted Living

Imagine an assisted living home for your loved one with Alzheimer's or other related dementia in a quiet residential neighborhood. Possibly even near your home.

There are senior housing choices available when dealing with a loved one with Alzheimer's or related dementia. One of these choices is smaller residential homes that are licensed assisted living facilities. These homes specialize in delivering residential care to those with Alzheimer's or other dementia in a smaller home environment. These locations are typically residential homes that have been remodeled to accommodate 5 to 12 residents, a full time caregiver and other support staff. The homes are usually located in existing neighborhoods and look very similar to other homes in the area.

Alzheimer's residential homes are typically bedroom-style rental units with commons areas for dining, relaxing and other activities. Many are secured and locked for the residents' safety. The staff is usually specially trained and offers not only care but also a supportive home environment with family dining, snacks, activities and the general flow of household activities. Holidays and birthdays are celebrated as an extended family and family members are always encouraged to visit.

Amenities can vary between locations but typically include meal plans, cable television, local phone calls, housekeeping, laundry, maintenance and transportation. Rates also vary from all-inclusive programs to base rates with add-on service packages for aid for daily living services (ADLs). Payor sources can range from private pay to insurance plans.
