The Courtyard of Loveland offers assisted living in a caring, home-like atmosphere for residents of Northern Colorado. Our facility in Loveland, Colorado is located in a quiet, safe residential neighborhood and features pleasant home-like furnishings and decor. Our unique activities program is geared to preserving independence and well-being for our residents.

We offer delicious, home cooked meals with individual food and portion choices. Coffee, juice and snacks are always available for residents and their guests. Our solid history of excellence and superior performance standards assure a superior quality of life for our residents.

The Courtyard continues dedicated to its residents since it's opening in March of 1989, and strives for excellence in the assisted living concept. We pride ourselves on twenty years of shared professional experience and knowledge establishing a tradition of gracious assisted living at the Courtyard.

About our Owners

The Courtyard is owned and operated by three Loveland area professional women, who share a concern for the quality of life for seniors. Kay vonMetzger, Donna Larson and Linda Vernon joined forces in 1987. Having "first-hand" experience with the issues of frail elderly persons, they set out to provide a full complement of quality care and services for the elderly and disabled.

Each Owner has individual expertise, which contributes to the Courtyard's success. They have each lived and operated independent businesses in the Loveland/Berthoud community for over 35 years. They each have been married for over 40 years with grown children and now grandchildren, and are rooted in their community by actively supporting in areas of service activities as well as business.

Kay, an RN, owned a home care business for 14 years and a board and care home for about five years. She reviews and monitors the Courtyard's health and medical policies to maintain the health of our Residents and to insure proper medical procedures.

Donna, the retired teacher, general contractor and farm manager, oversees the building operations and monitors the financial health of The Courtyard.

Linda, owns Designs, a retail-clothing store in Old Town Ft. Collins, and has experience in both home and commercial interior design for over 30 years. She creates the beautiful home-like atmosphere one can see throughout The Courtyard's building and outdoor gardens.

The Owners are often on site and participate in overall management to insure quality care, a safe and pleasant environment and above all, a home for the residents.

At The Courtyard in Loveland Residents enjoy a pleasant home-like décor and comfortable furnishings in the common areas. Residents furnish and decorate their own rooms to individual taste, with the Courtyard providing window coverings. All rooms are open and safe, with a barrier-free, private 1/2 bathroom in every room. Each room has its own separate room thermostat and ceiling fan. Emergency call buttons, smoke detectors, fire sprinklers and a back-up generator on-site provides security and peace of mind. Television antenna hook-up is free for local channels and cable television is available through an independent provider at a fee for selected services. Free cable TV is available in the living room.

Support services are included ... Not extra!

A generous time allowance for twenty-four hour personal care assistance provides that each resident's room is cleaned, linens and personal laundry are individually washed weekly and their bathrooms cleaned daily or more often as needed.
Medication administration, social activities, bathing, and dressing assistance are also part of the regular personal care package. Additional assistance is available, if needed, at an hourly rate. Telephone hookups are available in all rooms for personal use at each resident's expense. A free public telephone is available in the living room for local calls. A complimentary monthly newsletter features pictures of the residents enjoying activities, resident news, the next month's activity calendar and a menu.
Monthly assessment by a professional nurse is included in the monthly fee for all residents. Each resident receives a monthly assessment by our nurse, which includes vital signs, medication, and overall health review. Our nurse is also available for consultation for daily problems. Our trained qualified medical assistance personnel (QMAPS) do medication reminders and observation as part of the personal care assistance allowance.
Our unique Activities Program is geared to preserve independence, well-being and fun! Our dedicated Activities Coordinator keeps residents busy! Residents gather for exercise and mobility programs on a daily basis along with bingo and "mind challenging" games during the week. Live entertainment and "lively" visits from preschoolers, ice cream socials, outings to parks and neighborhood walks and Christmas lights are just a few of our many activities. Sunday interdenominational chapel services and a weekly Bible study group offer spiritual and emotional support. An active Resident's Council meets monthly to give each resident a voice in activities, menus, facility policies, suggestions and resolution of issues. Residents' opinions are respected.
Delicious, home cooked meals are served three times a day as part of the monthly fee. Flavorful and nutritious meals are prepared in our kitchen from "scratch" and from fresh ingredients. The Food Service Manager meets regularly with residents to determine preferences. Hamburger and hotdog picnics are prepared on the outdoor grill. Coffee, juice and snacks are always available for residents and their guests, and snacks are served to residents in their rooms mid morning and evening. Sugar free choices are always available but not monitored.

Amenities and more

The Courtyard is located in a quiet, safe, residential neighborhood and offers both indoor and outdoor living. Residents have keys to their rooms and to the exterior doors of the facility. The Courtyard provides transportation to planned activities and if a Resident is in need of transportation to appointments or shopping, arrangements may be made at the office for our mini-van service at a nominal fee. Residents are requested to sign in and out.
