Medicare’s State Health Insurance Assistance Programs (SHIP).
Healthy Aging Today has produced an online video about Medicare’s State Health Insurance Assistance Programs (SHIP). The broadcast provides information to Medicare consumers about how the state programs operate, helping people understand Medicare and the options available within their state. Every state has a SHIP, funded through an annual grant from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the federal agency that oversees the Medicare program.

NCOA is looking for compelling personal stories to demonstrate the value of falls prevention programs. Do you offer one in your community? If so, enter our contest—and you could win a cash prize. Entries must be stories and photos of individual seniors who have participated in an evidence-based falls prevention program and experienced an improved life as a result. The contest is sponsored by Humana, and the deadline is Jan. 15, 2012.

Tax time is around the corner and AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is there to help low to moderate income seniors!
As in past years the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, an AARP Foundation program, is offering low- to moderate-income taxpayers, especially those that are 60 years or older with assistance with tax services. The goal of this program is to ensure that low to moderate income taxpayers receive applicable tax credits and deductions. Visit the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program web page and review the services. The Salute to Seniors is the largest senior event and fair in the state of Colorado, and for over twenty years has been known as the premier event for seniors to combine information, education, entertainment and friendship. The Northeastern Illinois Agency on Aging will host the 17th Annual Senior Lifestyle Expo at the Drury Lane Oakbrook Terrace on August 21 and 22, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This past year’s expo attracted over 4,200 adults and their families. With the support of our sponsors – Humana, AARP and the Chicagoland Senior News, the 16th Annual Senior Lifestyle Expo was the place for Chicago area seniors to receive cutting edge information on a wide range of products and services and have a lot of fun! The 2011 Expo featured over 100 exhibitors, an entertainment stage, health and wellness info, interactive activities and educational seminars. Back again, the Expo hosted its Senior Idol competition where talented 60+ year olds sang, danced and entertained their way onto the Drury Lane stage to win adulation from the audience and cash prizes to boot!
