  • Fascinating reading when you look into the details of The 90+ Study
    This article reviews The 90+ Study which is a project that interviews and research the lives of seniors who were once members of The Leisure World Cohort Study started in 1981. The goal of the research is to find what enables some people live to age 90+ and how is this older population affected by memory loss and disabilities as they age.   • And in Denver, Colorado learn more about Alzheimer’s Disease Clinic and research program at University of Colorado School of Medicine – Anschutz Medical Center
    Huntington Potter, PhD, Professor of Neurology, Director of Alzheimer’s Disease Research, University of Colorado School of Medicine and Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome are conducting research in collaboration with others, on improved diagnoses and treatment of Alzheimer’s and the long-term goal of preventing or curing Alzheimer’s disease. Intergeneration Month - Connect All Ages Campaign
Location: U.S.

Fourteen years ago a small group of people formed the Intergeneration Foundation and created Intergeneration Day. This highly successful day of celebration expanded into September being designated Intergeneration Month (IG Month), incorporating the “Connect All Ages Campaign.” Visit the event website and share your activities, plans and ideas for “intergeneration conversations & activities.” You can submit your story and browse the website for other ways to promote Intergeneration connections.

    Find a Screening of Alive Inside

    The “Alive Inside” film explores the capacity of music to revitalize individuals in declining health. Filmmaker Michael Rossato-Bennett chronicles the incredible experiences of people around the country who have been “revitalized through the simple experience of listening to music.” The film documents how music “can triumph where prescription medication falls short.” Note that your organization can request a screening.

    Cyber-Seniors – Connecting Generations – Film Screenings
    Location: Across the United States

    The documentary file “Cyber-Seniors” is screening at locations across the United States. This is part of a nation-wide theatrical campaign to help promote youth volunteerism and senior tech literacy. This is a humorous and heartwarming documentary that chronicles the extraordinary journey of a group of senior citizens as they discover the world of the Internet through the guidance of teenage mentors. The spirited and engaging cast of Cyber-Seniors is bound to make you laugh out loud (or LOL, as they say) as they encounter the same obstacles and triumphs that we're very likely to have experienced ourselves.     Find a Death Café
    Location: Across the United States

    At a Death Café people gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death. The attendees are often strangers. At the meeting the group is has a discussion of death but there is no meeting agenda, or particular objective. The meeting is not about grief support but instead focuses on increasing the awareness of death through discussion in a respectful sharing of individuals’ thoughts and ideas about death. Innovations in Aging Collaborative Presents the “Remarkable Aging Series: Housing Choices and Livable Communities”

Location: UCCS Lane Center for Academic Health Sciences, Colorado Springs, CO
Innovations in Aging Collaborative (IIAC) has received funding from the City of Colorado Springs to address the major issues that are facing Baby Boomers aging in the community and new retirees moving into Colorado Springs. For September IIAC is discussing “Housing Choices and Livable Communities.” Community members and prospective residents, organizations and businesses are invited to attend.
