The Alzheimer's Association Mid South Chapter is a non-profit voluntary health organization committed to serving the residents of middle and west Tennessee and northeastern Alabama. The Chapter is an affiliate of the Alzheimer's Association, a national organization headquartered in Chicago that serves over 80 additional Chapters throughout the United States. The Mid South Chapter is a tax-exempt charitable organization under the rules of the Internal Revenue Service and the States of Alabama and Tennessee.

Our Services
The Mid South Chapter operates Regional Offices in Memphis, Nashville, and Tullahoma, Tennessee as well as Huntsville, Alabama. Each of the Regional Offices is a full service location that is staffed with full-time professionals. Each location can provide a full range of Association services. These services include:

  • Helpline and referral information is available by phone, mail, and personal consultation by appointment.
  • Care consultation
  • Education services for caregivers
  • Safe Return Program - a nationwide program that assists identifying and safely returning individuals with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias who wander from their caregivers and become lost.
  • Support groups for caregivers
  • Public education and training
  • Resource library with books available for loan or purchase. Videotapes are also available for short-term loan at no charge.
  • Advocacy for enhanced public policy, with the goal of increasing the funding for research into a cure for Alzheimer's disease.

Memory WalkOur Annual Events
Come Walk With Us! Memory Walk is the premier, and only national, fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association held in the Fall. For more than a decade, families, individuals, organizations, and businesses in local communities have raised funds to support local programs and services for people facing the difficult effects of Alzheimer's disease. In 2004, dedicated walkers, sponsors, and volunteers raised over $507,000 to support the programs and services of the Mid South Chapter. Call us for more details.

The Empowerment Education Symposium is a two-day conference for family caregivers and professionals. Education tracks range from introductory to more intermediate-level caregiving. Symposium classes include basic training about hands-on care giving to higher level classes. The event also includes Just For You, education for family caregivers to maintain their health and well being; Call us for more details.
