This calendar lists events for seniors, boomers, older adults and family caregivers living in the greater Denver metro area. Many of the events feature companies and non-profit organizations presenting information to educate and inform seniors and their families on resources available in the community. Occasionally we include other events from the Colorado Front Range.

Fall Harvest Lunch Event at Malley Recreation Center

Leaves are changing, temperatures are falling, and the crops are harvested! So, let's celebrate FALL! Join us for a warm lunch of warm potato leek soup, chicken breast stuffed with squash and while rice, rolls and warm apple strudel. Heritage Home Care Veterans Event

A speaker from the State of Colorado, Veterans Affairs will be speaking to interested Veterans about the "Aid and Attendance Pension," that is available to veterans and surviving spouses. Come learn about how to apply for this pension that is in addition to your current pensions. Hear it from a qualified advocate who fights for the right of our States veterans. Family Caregiver Series from InnovAge

During the month of October, Innovage is offering a series of Caregiver Workshops. The workshops will be on Monday afternoons from 5:30PM to 6:30PM. Refreshments will be served. The workshops will be held at the Innovage location at 8405 W. Alameda Avenue in Lakewood. Workshop topics include protecting yourself and those you love from scams and frauds, how to manage personal respite, laughter yoga and mental health of caregivers and planning skills for the caregiver.

Halloween Fall Fest at the Forney Museum

Join us for the 7th annual Forney Museum Halloween Fall Fest! This safe, indoor Halloween event will be fun for the whole family! Entertain the little kids with games, pumpkin decorating, movies, scary stories, and candy. The older kids can enjoy even more games plus a haunted house. We will also have a costume contest and magician dazzling you throughout the night! The event costs $5 per person with children under 3 getting in free. With a Death Cafe, the idea is to get people from all backgrounds together over tea, coffee and delicious cake, to simply talk about death, a normal aspect of life that is generally feared by our culture. The hope of the Death Cafe movement is to simply normalize this phase of life by allowing groups of people to talk about death. A Death Cafe is not a support group or a means of selling services, but is instead a simple social gathering. There have been Death Cafes all over Colorado and the US. Learn More

Health Insurance Open Enrollment for those under 65

For coverage starting in 2015, the Open Enrollment Period for The Health Insurance Marketplace is November 15, 2014 through February 15, 2015. Individuals may also qualify for Special Enrollment Periods outside of Open Enrollment if they experience certain events.
