Comfortably elegant describes the atmosphere upon entering Epoch of Denver. Friendly staff is on hand to greet you and make you feel welcome. You will first notice how well appointed the furnishings and decorations are. Each floor has a common area with a different purpose in mind. There is a living room, ice cream parlor, dining room and fitness room on the main floor. The second floor is home to the Wellness Center, the large screen television, a spa and a library. Finally, on the third floor, you will find the beauty shop, a delightful country kitchen, a sitting room, and a craft room.

Apartments of varying sizes are on all three floors. There are three different studio sizes, two different one-bedroom floor plans and two converted plans accommodating those requiring maximum space. Each offers a kitchenette, individualized heating and cooling controls, a private bathroom and closet and storage space.

The basic level of service includes three meals a day with snacks any time, weekly housekeeping and towel and linen services, licensed nursing staff on-site 24 hours a day, activities 7 days a week, local scheduled transportation, a personal fitness trainer, and a 24 hour emergency response system. Other amenities include basic cable television, all utilities except telephone, 24 hour secured environment, complimentary use of laundry rooms and more.

At Epoch of Denver, we assist our residents to be as independent as possible. Before coming to Epoch, each prospective resident is assessed by our nurse. The assessment results in a customized care plan developed for each resident. Such things as bathing, continence, dressing, eating, hygiene, lucidity, medications, mobility and general physical health are looked at carefully. The prospective resident will, then, know in advance what assistance he or she will receive.

The residents enjoy a variety of activities designed to stimulate social, physical and mental health. There are exercise classes and strength training and conditioning machines. Excursions into the community may include a visit to the Denver Art Museum or just a scenic ride ending with a picnic in the park. In-house, one might attend a music appreciation class or an ice cream social. One thing is for sure; there is something to do each day of the week.

Assisted living has evolved to fill the gap between independent living and skilled nursing care. A person may only need to have meals prepared or just peace of mind knowing someone is on hand if needed around the clock. Or a person may feel safer with some assistance showering or dressing. Whatever the need, the Epoch wellness staff is on hand.

Epoch offers a short stay program, often called Respite Care, for anyone who needs assisted living for a few days or a few months. The short stay program is designed to provide relief for caregivers by providing a home away from home for a loved one during a vacation, business trip or while recovering from an illness or surgery. There is a per diem charge for Respite Care. It includes a furnished apartment and wellness care. Medication charges are billed separately.
