Tax time is around the corner and AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is there to help low to moderate income seniors!
As in past years the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, an AARP Foundation program, is offering low- to moderate-income taxpayers, especially those that are 60 years or older with assistance with tax services. The goal of this program is to ensure that low to moderate income taxpayers receive applicable tax credits and deductions. Visit the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program web page and review the services. The Wine Festival of Colorado Springs is a premier wine festival in the Colorado Front Range and for 2012 will feature The Wines of Napa Valley at The Broadmoor, Garden of the Gods Club and the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. Now in its 21st year, all proceeds from this event benefit the Fine Arts Center of Colorado Springs (FAC). The weekend-long Festival kicks off at the Broadmoor Hotel on March 9 with two special seminars. The culmination of the Festival is the Gourmet Winemaker Dinner and Live Auction held at the Garden of the Gods Club on Saturday, March 10. Learn more!

Senior Day at the Capitol has been scheduled for Wednesday, March 14, 2012. Program and other details are in the planning stages. Building upon last year’s successful Senior Day, the planning committee is looking at comments submitted by attendees and planning adjustments to make the 2012 event more successful and informative. The Baptist Church on 14th and Grant will be available for lunch.

2012 Memories in the Making® Art Auctions in Colorado Springs

Alzheimer’s Association Memories in the Making® is a creative art expression program for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. Even after people with dementia have lost the ability to use words, they are often able to express thoughts and emotions and toshare memories through painting with watercolors. The experience offers an opportunity for the essence of who they are and what they care about to shine through. Beautiful artwork is created by those with memory impairment in 45 Memories in the Making art classes held weekly throughout metro Denver. A jury of professional artists selects the artwork for the auction and it is then professionally framed for display at the annual Memories in the Making Art Show and Auction.

Territory Days in Old Colorado City
Location: Old Colorado City, Colorado
Territory Days is a three day annual event and is one of the Colorado's largest outdoor festivals with an "Old West" theme. Territory Days was created in 1976 to commemorate Old Colorado City being the first territorial capital of the region. The event takes place in the historic district of Old Colorado City on Colorado Avenue between 23rd Street and 27th Street. This is one of the state’s largest craft vendor fairs (over 200 food, craft and commercial vendors) with pony rides, kids play area, petting zoo, mechanical bull, Cowboy Church Service, toy train rides, gold panning, wild west gunfight re-enactments, live blacksmithing, period costumed characters, live birds of prey, native American dancers, quick draw competition, and two beer gardens with live music running all three days.

20th Annual Boomer & Beyond Senior Expo of Colorado Springs

The Boomer and Beyond Senior Expo is planned for June 2nd from 9:00AM to 2:00PM. This is a free event with free parking. Our event is wheelchair accessible and gives older adults, boomers, seniors and their families a great opportunity to learn about senior resources and services in the area. The event also features prizes, games, vendors, entertainment and refreshments. This event is brought to the community by the Colorado Springs Seniors Resource Council. File of Life is designed to provide important medical history, current medications, resuscitation requests and emergency contact information to First Responders. It consists of a highly visible magnetic folder designed for placement on a refrigerator and comes with a mini-version for a wallet, car, suitcase or other easily accessible location.
