  • The Colorado Farm and Art Markets are Open
    The Colorado Farm and Art Market is a cooperative farmers market that is owned and operated by the participating member vendors, including farmers, artisans, and licensed processed food vendors. Find local producers of farm products, additional gourmet food items, and fine crafts and arts. The organization also seeks to grow community across urban and rural boundaries and promote and sustain local and regional economies.

    Colorado Springs Region Alzheimer’s Association Events

    View our flyer that shows classes, support groups and social events for the Colorado Springs Region for April through June. We have programs in Elbert, Park, El Paso and Teller Counties.     Learn more about The Centenarian Project:

    The Centenarian Project is a promotional activity of the Commission on Aging to celebrate the lives of Centenarians across the state, recognize their individual century of achievement, and focus the attention of all Coloradans on the political and social issues of aging. The Centenarian Project recognizes seniors who have achieved the age of 100 or older by awarding centenarian certificates prepared by the Commission and signed by the Governor. Certificates are usually awarded at birthday parties or other family functions and can be presented by Commission members.

    The Independence Center offers a variety of events with topics from low vision to disability support groups to mental health and more. Support groups are an excellent means for consumers experiencing disabilities to share their encounters and learn about available resources. The Independence Center serves 8 counties in Southern and Eastern Colorado.

Intergeneration Month - Connect All Ages Campaign
Location: U.S.

Fourteen years ago a small group of people formed the Intergeneration Foundation and created Intergeneration Day. This highly successful day of celebration expanded into September being designated Intergeneration Month (IG Month), incorporating the “Connect All Ages Campaign.” Visit the event website and share your activities, plans and ideas for “intergeneration conversations & activities.” You can submit your story and browse the website for other ways to promote Intergeneration connections.

Support Local Food Banks

Many Americans including seniors struggle with hunger. They live in our neighborhoods and they are our neighbors, co-workers and friends. Get involved with fighting hunger by donating and talking about hunger in America so we can all raise awareness and fight hunger in the United States.

Colorado's State Fair
Location: Colorado State Fairgrounds

Families will find a lot to do and see at the Colorado State Fair, and for not a lot of money. From educational exhibits to the best of Colorado youth projects in everything from food to homemade clothing to the livestock show and overall agricultural experience. The Horse Show area has plenty to see and the Department of Agriculture's own Agriculture Pavilion lets kids experience a variety of farm animals and hands-on activities including "crop boxes," and a roping arena. In addition to showcasing Colorado agriculture, the annual event features one of the country's largest traveling carnivals, artwork, crafts, food competitions, thrilling rodeo action, a wide variety of food and merchandise booths and a Fiesta Day honoring Colorado's ties to the Hispanic culture. Plan to atend!

Rockin' the '60s for Silver Key Fundraising Event
Location: Antlers Hilton

Silver Key serves thousands of seniors in the greater Colorado Springs area and advocates for senior empowerment and offers a variety of services to help local seniors maintain independence, safety and quality of life. This is an inaugural gala fundraising event for the organization. Tickets are $100 per person and RSVP is needed by August 25th. If you cannot make it to the event check out the Rockin’ Live Auction Online bidding. You don’t have to be present at the event to win the online auction. The Auction features items such as an "Out of this World Evening with Stephen and Deborah Coonts,” to a Luxury Package at the lavish Biltmore in Phoenix, Arizona, to a Private Dinner at "Chez Rich & Greg" and more. Online bidding closes at 3PM on Friday, September 5th.

Innovations in Aging Collaborative Presents the “Remarkable Aging Series: Housing Choices and Livable Communities”

Innovations in Aging Collaborative (IIAC) has received funding from the City of Colorado Springs to address the major issues that are facing Baby Boomers aging in the community and new retirees moving into Colorado Springs. For September IIAC is discussing “Housing Choices and Livable Communities.” Community members and prospective residents, organizations and businesses are invited to attend. Individual tickets are $30 and include beverages and a continental breakfast. More details will be posted on the website closer to the date of the event. Walk to End Alzheimer’s

This Walk is personal for the more than 60,000 people living with Alzheimer’s in Colorado and the 229,000 people who provide their care. The funds raised in 2014 will go to support education, counseling, and our 24 hour Helpline all offered at no cost to families across the state and to fund research to find a cure.
