A program that is fast and convenient. It supplies books, audio books, and videos to people who are unable to use the library system due to temporary or long-term physical and medical disabilities. Children and adults who have difficulty visiting the library system's branches are entitled to receive these free services. Caregivers may subscribe.

First Call 211 to Get Help or Volunteer
2-1-1 is a phone number that connects the public to a local agency that can provide information about services, as well as refer callers to appropriate programs. In broad terms, 2-1-1 Centers service individuals and families by finding appropriate ways to address problems, assist callers with eligibility criteria and service provider information, and maintaining comprehensive databases on government and community resources.

Ham Radio Operators Club at Riverside Community Center

Quickly becoming America's favorite pastime, the Ham Radio Operators Club meets to share information and experience. Along with providing invaluable public service during hurricane season and natural disasters, this is also a great hobby for all ages. Meetings are the last Tuesday of the month beginning at 7:00 PM at the Riverside Community Center.

Talking Books
The Talking Book program is made available at no charge for people who are visually impaired or physically unable to hold a book or turn pages. Continue enjoying books and magazines with high quality recordings. Playback equipment is supplied, and easy mail in tapes. Call 1-800-226-6075 to get started.

The Foster Grandparent Program
The Dr. Piper Center for Social Services, Inc. in Fort Myers needs senior volunteers to become tutors and mentors for children in elementary schools and Head Start Centers. Stipends and mileage reimbursements available. Call 239-332-5346 for more information.

The Karl J. Drews Community Center

Annual membership gives you access to activities held in 3 locations. Activities range from tennis, ceramics, country dancing, Mah Jong, Stretch classes, flower workshop, relaxation workshop, Tai Chi, water aerobics and more.
