BackLocal Senior Had Wish Granted, Played Drums with Band during Intergenerational Prom

Buzz Zaremba, 97-year-old resident of Wynwood Ridge Point, a Brookdale Senior Living assisted living community located in Boulder, Colorado, had his wish fulfilled to perform with a good dance band when he drummed with the Joe Peterson Orchestra during the Intergenerational Senior Citizen’s Prom at Dunstan Middle School in Lakewood, Colorado, through Brookdale Senior Living and Jeremy Bloom’s Wish of a Lifetime.
Zaremba played three songs with the band including, ‘Mac the Knife,’ ‘New York, New York’ and the ‘Stroll.’ The band did not plan on having him play the ‘Stroll,’ but he was such a great drummer that they decided to let him play the song. Zaremba danced with many of the ladies from the student council, and played the drums as if he had never stopped.
He was granted the opportunity to play with the Joe Peterson Orchestra through Brookdale and Jeremy Bloom’s Wish of a Lifetime. Both organizations have partnered together to enrich the lives of seniors and grant their life-long wishes. Through this program, residents at Brookdale Senior Living communities nationwide are invited to share and submit their wishes.
“It was wonderful to be able to play the drums again in a band,” said Zaremba. “It was so fun to see everyone dancing to the music. I joined them as soon as my set was finished!”
To request his wish, Zaremba filled out a survey form explaining an experience he would like to have fulfilled, and how that experience relates to one or more dimensions of the company’s Optimum Life® concept.
