One of the most important benefits of selecting a senior living community which offers a continuum of care is its ability to adapt to residents' changing needs. In keeping with its mission of creating environments that enhance the quality of residents' lives, The Carlisle, a luxury, resort-style senior living community in North Naples, has received an extended congregate care (ECC) license for its award-winning assisted living community.
Issued by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration's Division of Health Quality Assurance, the ECC licensure-held in addition to the standard assisted living license-allows assisted living communities to provide additional supportive and nursing services to residents who would otherwise need to transition to a skilled nursing facility. The Carlisle can now pro- vide the maximum care possible for residents requiring assistance with the activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, eating, etc.) as well as offer services that allow residents to age in place as their needs grow and change over time.
"The ECC licensure provides additional options for our assisted living residents," said Executive Director Tim Maloney. "We are able to continue providing specialized care in a familiar, residential setting for as long as possible."
The Carlisle Naples Assisted Living's ECC program also provides for supportive services including social service needs, counseling, emotional support, networking and referrals and family support. According to Maloney, The Carlisle continues to remain above the state-required staffing ratio and licensed nurses are available on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
In addition to its ECC licensure, The Carlisle was recently awarded a three-year accreditation by the Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Similar to the Five Star rating in the hospitality industry, this certification is the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to a retirement community.
The owner and operator of the independent and assisted living community, Senior Resource Group, LLC (SRG), is the only company in the senior living industry to have received three-year accreditation for each of its communities.
To receive the accreditation, The Carlisle completed a rigorous peer review process and demonstrated to a team of surveyors that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurability and accountability. The community's innovative Club Carlisle, a person-centered program that addresses the needs of assisted living residents whose needs will be served in a smaller group, and the SRG Genuine Hospitality program were commended by CARF.
"By voluntarily incorporating CARF standards and quality and service, SRG has reaffirmed its steadfast determination to improve and to lead the industry to higher standards," added Maloney. "We're dedicated to providing a rich experience, not just for residents and their families, but also for staff, neighbors and the community at large."
