Services for Seniors is a program of Utah Food Bank Services and delivers a variety of services at no cost to qualifying low-income senior citizens. These services help maintain independence, improve security and combat isolation.
One exciting service, the Food Box program, serves both Davis and Salt Lake Counties. This program assists senior citizens by utilizing volunteers to deliver a supplemental 10-day food supply once a month. Each fortified food box contains nutritious food items including both non-perishables and perishable food items including meat, bread and dairy products.
The Food Box Program is excellent for senior citizens as well as volunteers. Food box recipients enjoy the company of visitors and feel such joy when they are greeted by volunteers' smiling faces! Utah Food Bank Services' goal is to assign one dedicated volunteer to each Food Box Program client. With a requirement of only one visit per month, this is an excellent way to make a difference in someone's life and gain a new friend.
