Independent Senior communities have become more and more popular in the last 5 years in Salt Lake Valley. Assisted care and retirement facilities have seemed to pop up on every corner in the last decade. It has been harder for a senior to find quality independent living communities, where you own your home instead of renting. Independent Senior communities offer those over 55 years old an alternative to the rental version of the assisted care options of the past. Independent-living communities offer affordable housing options, with little or no maintenance for the home owner, activities to participate in and the owner keeps the independence and integrity of still owing their own home. We have seen many Seniors still holding onto living in their current home even though the stairs, yard work, and just general maintenance of a larger single family home has become too difficult and may even present medical or physical problems as well.
I have seen all too often where a senior has hesitated or delayed about moving from their big home just long enough that a medical reason or physical limitation has now taken the choices away from them that would have been easier to manage if they had decided earlier to downsize and simplify their life. The option of living in a new luxury 55+ community are for both those looking for a seasonal home, or those looking to downsize, loose the yard work, and make new friends while truly enjoying the “golden years”. Do you think you may need extra money to afford a new independent living home? There are programs offered through FHA that allow seniors over the age of 62 who need this extra money to purchase the new home along with the net proceeds from the sale of their current home which do not require monthly payments on the FHA loan. Crescent Heights Adult Condominiums are qualified for this amazing program with FHA and our staff would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
