For Veterans or Surviving Spouse of Veterans the answer is, YES!!

If you are a Veteran or a Surviving Spouse of a Veteran you may qualify for a pension through Veterans Affairs called Aid Attendance. This pension is available to help pay the costs of nursing home care, assisted living care, or home health care. There are three criteria that must be met in order to receive this pension.

1. The veteran must have served at least 90 days of active duty, and at least one day during a qualifying time of war.

2. The veteran or surviving spouse must need the assistance of others during the day with activities of daily living, such as meal preparation, medication management, assistance with bathing or dressing, etc.

3. The veteran or surviving spouses income must be less than the medical expenses. The cost of nursing home care, assisted living, or home health care is considered a medical expense.
