Due to the shifting trends and mobility of our society, the "family unit", as defined by indigenous cultures, has become a thing of the past. Traditional ways of life viewed the "Elders" as the purveyors of wisdom, responsible for teaching the children and passing on a legacy of knowledge and life's truths. Today's families, however, are often separated, living in different areas of the country or even in other parts of the world. Jobs, education, and lifestyles take grown children away from the extended family. In the "Age of Communication", family units may keep in touch through use of the telephone, email, and even "jet-setting" for holidays or special occasions. But as parents age, a dear Grandmother is struck by Alzheimer's Disease, or a favorite Uncle is immobilized by a stroke, the need to manage care and to provide support necessitates the closure of geographical distance. In addition, the desire and motivation to witness and acknowledge major life transitions becomes imperative.
As we enter the New Millennium and as we plan for the future of the "Baby Boomers, "Generation X", and "Y", and so on, the need for collaboration, coordination, physical assistance, and companionship in the implementation of plans to "bring the family back together" will become increasingly essential. These services may be valuable in other situations as well, for example:
vacation getaways or a temporary visit for the holidays, when mobility or even cognitive challenges pose serious limitations to contact with loved ones and thus, quality of life. The demand for practical services such as coordination of travel arrangements, management of medications, incontinence, and mobility issues en route, and providing for emotional and psychological needs of the Client and Family are already becoming an urgent necessity.
A locally based company has recognized and accepted the challenge to research and identify expert and cost effective means for meeting the needs described above. The parent company: Happy Homes Management Services, Inc. has been providing support and non-nursing services for the Elderly, and Physically and Cognitively Challenged since 1996. Motivated by a commitment to help people during major life transitions, Imago Transitions combines nursing, rehab, and management skills, along with extensive, world-wide travel proficiency to offer expert travel counsel, coordination, and support for Elders. The "Imago" is the mature, adult butterfly, representing the culmination of a life's work, wisdom, and legacy in the Elder. "Transitions" denotes the passing or shifting from one stage of life to another.
Though Imago Transitions is not designed to provide emergency medical transport, our unique services have proved to be of immense value to many families all over the world. We look forward to consulting with you to see how we may best meet the needs of you and your loved ones.
