Take Care of Your Mental Health; Senior Drop-in Day ProgramArticle submitted by The Senior Drop-In Day Program. Call Elizabeth Thomas at 228-864-6274 for more information. If you fell and broke your arm, you'd have it fixed so it would heal and not cause you more distress. The same goes for the flu or a bad cold. So what about your mental health? If you survive the worst natural disaster in the United States, lose your home, live in strange, uncomfortable places for long periods of time, and especially if your friends are no longer here and you're "too old" for all of this, your mental health will be affected. There's help available to relieve the stress and strife of these times. In addition to excellent mental health programs that a physician may prescribe, the Mental Health Association of Mississippi developed a special "Senior Drop-In Day Program" for you. All you have to do is call. If you spend your days sitting at home feeling lonely and have few friends or attentive family members, this program may be just the thing to get you up and running again. The program provides a comfortable, safe and stimulating atmosphere with a supportive and active environment. Program activities include pets, guest speakers, music, support groups, arts and crafts, and much more. Case management service and limited transportation is available. The Senior Drop-In Day Program is open on Mondays from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Call Elizabeth Thomas, 228-864-6274. This is a terrific opportunity; make the call! |
