Cordless Emergency ResponseNot everyone who needs Emergency Response Services is home bound or has a phone line. The traditional "life line' technology has been around for about 25 years and saves lives on a daily basis. This dominant model is for home bound folks and it works within range of a home. The Mobile PAL is a cordless emergency response unit with GPS locating ability built into it. It goes where you go. The unit has four main functions. Push the button and get help 24/7, set up a 3 way call to a doctor's office or family, GPS locating ability, and a 96 decibel alarm. Recently a family installed both the Mobile PAL and the traditional "life line' unit for their 90 year old dad who still walks 1-2 miles a day, lives alone and drives short distances. This is a growing pattern: case managers recommending and families using traditional wired units in the home and Mobile Pal for protection outside the home. One elderly client in Colorado Springs recently used his Mobile PAL when he was mugged on his way to a 7-Eleven store. When I see the courageous disabled folks in power wheel chairs crossing busy intersections, I cringe and wish there was some way I could get them a Mobile PAL. Then in case of an accident they could get help. No one tool fits every person's needs and Mountain Home Medical continues to work with Secure Alert and others to bring to Colorado a full circle of care for our loved ones' protection. |
