The Assist Plus ProgramArticle submitted by Schenley Gardens. Assisted Living can be explained as a bridge, which extends between living in one's own home, apartment or condo, and residing in a nursing home. Assist Plus can be thought of as a ramp onto the Assisted Living Bridge. For those needing more care than can be provided in Assisted Living, but whose condition does not warrant transfer to a skilled nursing facility, this ramp can extend the ability to remain within the Assisted Living Community. The Schenley Gardens Assist Plus Program was created with those residents in mind. Additional services are provided with a higher care-giver-to-Resident ratio by staff assigned exclusively to that Program. Three (3) meals per day in the Assist Plus or Terrace Level diningroom with in-apartment meals also an option, assistance with medications, use of an emergency alert pendant, personal laundry service, bed and bath linens, bed made daily, apartment cleaned weekly. Assist Plus Residents are welcome to avail themselves of all amenities and activities offered to other Schenley Gardens Residents. Among these are social and wellness programs, beauty/ barber services, scheduled transportation, on-site Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Center with Therapy Pool and Whirlpool, on-site banking, and Library. Admission for the Assist Plus Program can be for a short period of time (Respite) to enhance recuperation, or can be a permanent transfer from within the Schenley Gardens Community. Former Respite Residents and Prospective Residents from the external community are welcome. |
