Dying Beautifully - Making the Most of the Time You Have Left Together is the interactive guide for those that are dying and their loved-ones. Written with the deepest respect that each of us will approach dying from our own perspective, influenced by our own past, this workbook provides the space for the reader to workout their particular thoughts about what is happening or is about to happen.

Readers are engaged with stories and perspectives and given the opportunity to reflect while recording their thoughts. Exercises provide concrete activities. Forms are included to allow readers the tools needed to gain control of the process.

Dying Beautifully blends the insights of professional in hospice with the varying cultural perspectives of noted writers like Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, Stephen Levine, and Sogyal Rinpoche as it traverses the most difficult end-of-life issues. A brief scan of the table of contents reveals that Dying Beautifully does not skirt the real issues: How do you tell your loved-one that you are dying? How do you tell her that you are? What about the kids? Conversion? Forgiveness? What are these things we call final affairs?

If you were to ask Dave Karpowicz, the author what was the driving force behind Dying Beautifully, he answers that the work grew out of an experience he had with his friend Eddie who was in intensive care and wanted to talk about dying. Dave panicked and gave all the wrong answers. "Oh Eddie you will be fine. You will be home in a couple of days." Dave knew it was a lie - so did Eddie. While Eddie was too gracious to say anything, his face said it all. "Here is one more person who is going to make me go through this alone." Dave wished he had a guide, something that would calm him and provide enough insight to get him started. Fifteen years later, Dave wrote that guide, Dying Beautifully, with the hope of helping others with their Eddie.

The goal of the book is simple: to help replace the fear and anxiety of dying with gratitude for life and intimacy.
