Non-Medical Home Care services can also provide service in Hospitals, Rehabilitation Centers, Assisted Living, and Nursing Homes. These services may only be needed for a short time; for instance, recovery after a stay in a hospital or rehabilitation facility. The recovery process can leave a person weak with new needs that require special attention. A CAREGiver can provide one to one care until recovery is reached.
During the first few weeks in an assisted living facility, or after the loss of a spouse, people can experience tremendous emotional struggle. Having a well trained CAREGiver to share thoughts and feelings with can make this very big transition smoother.
This extra attention also provides peace of mind for family members. When family is separated from loved ones by distance, just knowing that one person is there to represent the senior's interests and monitor any changes can ease their concerns.
The risk of falling can be a major concern even during a hospital stay. Having a CAREGiver there can provide a steady arm or help remind a senior that remaining in bed can prevent an injury. The facility will not usually be able to provide one to one attention and seniors find this attention comforting.
While recovering, personal assistance can also be valuable for follow up appointments, errands, and medication reminders; something as simple as conversation or tying a shoe can make a big difference. When seniors are busy and engaged with someone who has time to show they care, the hours fly by. The walls become friendly. Laughter and conversation that fills their new home is like music to the heart and soul.
