What can this program do for seniors?
Freedom Through Functionality is a strength-building program designed especially for the older adult. This program was developed
based on many research studies which demonstrate the positive benefits that strength-building activities can have for the older
adult, even those who are particularly frail.
How much time does it require?
Scientific research has shown us that significant improvement in strength and function can occur with an exercise program conducted
2 to 3 times per week, for an average of 20 minutes per session.
What changes can be expected?
Research studies, as well as the outcomes of our own participants have shown the following changes in participants of the Freedom
Through Functionality program:
- Increased muscled strength: making it easier and safer to stand, walk and perform activities of daily living
- Enhanced joint flexibility: making movement simpler and easier
- Improved body composition: less fat and more lean muscle mass
- Improved ability to walk longer distances without tiring
- Reduce occurrence of falls
- Increased cardiovascular endurance: allowing you to live a more active lifestyle
- Improved blood pressure
- Decreased pain and discomfort caused by arthritis
Will this type of exercise be painful?
Not at all! We will teach seniors to perform the exercises safely and correctly and they will exercise under the supervision of one
of our trained personnel. While minor soreness may be experienced after exercise, it will not be persistent and will be no different
from other minor aches and pain experienced after exercise or other physical activities.
What makes this program different?
The Freedom Through Functionality program offers an individualized exercise program that considers the normal effects of aging.
Participants will be instructed in the exercises and supervised by our trained personnel. They will work in a comfortable
environment with other people in their age group. |
