Alive Safety Classes

The City of Fort Myers Recreation Department is offering 55 Alive Safety Classes in conjunction with Ahead
of the Class Safety School. All classes are held at the Hall of 50 States in downtown Ft Myers. The basic
driver improvement course saves 10% on insurance.

A program that is fast and convenient. It supplies books, audio books, and videos to people who are unable
to use the library system due to temporary or long-term physical and medical disabilities. Children and
adults who have difficulty visiting the library system's branches are entitled to receive these free
services. Caregivers may subscribe.

Center for Lifelong Learning of International College
Exciting Lifelong Learning opportunities await you at International College. CLL is a multigenerational

2-1-1 is a phone number that connects the public to a local agency that can provide information about
services, as well as refer callers to appropriate programs. In broad terms, 2-1-1 Centers service
individuals and families by finding appropriate ways to address problems, assist callers with eligibility
criteria and service provider information, and maintaining comprehensive databases on government and
community resources.

From the Fort Myers Coin Club to Dog Obedience and Wild Pottery, Party Bridge, Yoga Classes, Ballroom
Dancing & More, the Fort Myers Recreation Division offers a wide variety of educational classes, clubs
and social activities. Contact the division for starting dates and meeting locations. Here is a list of some
of the diverse activities available:
Ahead of the Class Safety School
Classes offered include: Learner's License, 55 Alive, Traffic Ticket and Driver Improvement. For class dates

Ballroom Dance & Country In-line Dancing
The Riverside Community Center is the locations for an evening of ballroom dance every Monday at 7:30 pm.
$5.00 admission includes refreshments. Friday evenings join us at 7:00 pm for country music and instructor
lead in-line dancing.
Contra Dance
Contra Dancing is a series of called dance moves with an Irish flavor. Offered the first Saturday of each
month, October through March. Call 3382287 for location and times.
Dog Obedience Training Classes
Classes are held at Shady Oaks Community Center on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm. All levels are welcome.

Senior Exercise Class
Held Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10:00 am Riverside Community Center
Square Dance
For the experienced square dancers Wednesdays at 2:00 pm (seasonal) Riverside Community Center - all ages

SW Florida Gem & Mineral Club
The club meets the 4th Tuesday of the month at 7:30 pm Brixz Restaurant. Featured speakers, lessons and
demonstrations on gems, minerals and fossils.
Wild Pottery Classes
Award-winning wildlife artist Joel Loeper leads this "Wild Pottery" class Thursday and Friday
evenings at 7:00 pm at Riverside Community Center. Potter's Wheel and Kiln on site.
Yoga Classes
Connect the mind and body by practicing breathing techniques for relaxation, poses to increase your
strength, flexibility, balance and concentration. Beginners welcome. Consult your physician before beginning
this or any exercise program. Meet Monday evenings at 6:15 pm at The City Pier Building
H2U - "Health, Happiness, You"

We are a membership program designed to meet the unique health needs of people 50+. We provide health and
education seminars, exercise programs, water aerobics, and circuit training and dance programs. We also
offer social activities such as day trips, luncheons for our members. Our North Fort Myers recreation center
features billiards room, ceramics, car games and more. As a national organization we provide discounts on
dental and prescriptions. Members also receive a National Magazine and local newsletter detailing upcoming
events. Cost to join is only $15 for a year.
Ham Radio Operators Club at Riverside Community Center

Quickly becoming America's favorite pastime, the Ham Radio Operators Club meets to share information and
experience. Along with providing invaluable public service during hurricane season and natural disasters,
this is also a great hobby for all ages. Meetings are the last Tuesday of the month beginning at 7:00 PM at
the Riverside Community Center.
Island Seniors Program

The Foster Grandparent Program
The Dr. Piper Center for Social Services, Inc. in Fort Myers needs senior volunteers to become tutors and
mentors for children in elementary schools and Head Start Centers. Stipends and mileage reimbursements

The Karl J. Drews Community Center

Annual membership of $40 gives you access to activities held in 3 locations. Activities range from tennis,
